Was it Fatal?

I thought I'd share with ya'll this funny newspaper clipping that my 95 year old client had in one of her books. So funny! Enjoy! :-D

Was It Fatal?
A woman is said to have asker her husband to take down the recipe being given on the radio on morning. The husband did his best but got two stations at once. One was broadcasting exercises and the other the recipe. This is what he got:
Hands on hips, place one cup of flour on shoulders. Raise knees and depress toes and wash thoroughly in one-half cup milk. In four counts raise the lower legs and mash two hard-boiled eggs in a sieve. Repeat six times in one cup of flour; breathe naturally and bend white of egg backward and forward over head. In four counts make a stiff dough that will stretch at waist. Lie on the walnut, hop to a standstill in boiling water, but do not boil into a gallop. In ten minutes remove from fire and dry with towel, breathe naturally, dress in warm flannel and serve with fish soup.

Fall Is Here!

9-9-10
Fall is here! I can feel it and see it all around me. I love fall. Sitting inside a cozy house, cuddled next to the fire in a blanket, with a cup of hot apple cider and a good book, while watching the wet and overcast weather outside. Of course we are not always able to enjoy the weather in this fashion, but it can be enjoyed in so many different ways. I have friends that really love being out in the rain...it doesn't really bother me, but I prefer to be dry :-P I would upload some really nice pictures I got last fall, but they are currently all on my other laptop at my parents house. Hopefully I'll have everything on one computer again soon! My best friend is due in a few short weeks with her first baby. Many of my other friends have headed off to college and yet others and still out of work and looking for jobs. It seems that so many people I know are at a transition point in their life. I know what that is like and it isn't always very easy figuring out what to do and where God is calling you in this next step of your life. I'm so very blessed in where God has me in my life now and have learned so much in those transition times in my life. Nevertheless I continue to learn as I struggle with those day to day challenges that life presents.
This is a picture of me with my new apron that a friend from HSA made for me!
May everyone have a blessed and enjoyable fall season!

We are back from Michigan! I had such a great time with my friends and really enjoyed getting to see so much of the State and where my friend lives and hangs out. Here's a few pics

Off to save the World...

...well, not exactly.
This time tomorrow my sister, our friend Saul, and myself will be sitting in Sea-Tac Airport waiting for our boarding call for our 10:55 flight to Atlanta then wait about an hour for our connecting flight to Flint, MI...where we will be meeting a friend of ours to spend the week. We get to help celebrate her 21st birthday on Saturday and hopefully get to see some of our other friends in the area! We are so excited and I just hope that everything has been thought of and figured out so that all of the travel plans go smoothly. I've never purchased airline tickets in my life before and was glad I was able to get so many helpful tips from friends and get such a great deal on them. I've done little in state flying. In fact all of my flight experience has been International. When I went to Japan in 2007 I flew from PDX to SFO to Tokyo to Aso to Kyoto to SFO to PDX...then when I went to Mexico in 2008 it only consisted of SEA to Houston to Mexico City to Houston to SEA...that's it. THis time I'll be flying from SEA to ATL to Flint to ATL to SEA...LOL...if anyone was able to decipher that, I'm impressed. :-P
I'm all packed, my car is cleaned out (I'll be leaving it at the airport) and I THINK I have all the paperwork in order and ready to go...I get off around 2pm tomorrow...my father should be dropping off my sister around that time and then we will run a few errands before we head up North. So very excited to see so many friends we haven't seen in what seems like a VERY long time! Will write again when I get back and hopefully have some pictures and fun tales to tell :-D GO SPARTANS!
God Bless!

Day 30: A Motto or Philosophy

I truly can't think of anything that isn't already stated in the Bible so I think I shall actually pass on this one....If I so happen to think of something I may someday come back to this post and change my answer, or write a revision or something. :P

Day 29: Hopes, Dreams And Plans I Have For The Next 365 Days

Well, I'm nearing the end of this challenge and this one as well as the last one are the two I've been least looking forward to. This is partly because I really have no idea what to write. I don't plan out my year, or months much anymore. There was a time in my life where I liked to have a decent plan for everything I did, but then I learned what it was to have God's Will for my life and it really changed my perspective. I still like to have a plan for somethings, like what I might or could be doing this weekend, or how my day may go. But if those plans don't work out I try my best not to fuss about it and just remember that they were just guidelines for the day and they got messed up, no big deal. At that time in my life before I had a definite plan, with a little leeway. I was going to graduate high school and then go to college the following fall to start my education to become an Accountant. I had chosen this profession for a number of different reasons. I love numbers, working with money amounts is one of the easiest number jobs...in my opinion, I figured I could work at a firm after I graduated with my degree and was certified, then if/when I got married I would still be able to work from home with a few clients if we so happened to need the extra income. Either way I figured the education would come in handy at some point, as my mother's had with my father's business. However, God had a different plan for my life and when I realized what He wanted me to do I realized how off base I'd been when making MY plans. I hadn't consulted God at all when it came to what to do with my life and even though I had everything planned out, it was nothing when it was compared to what God wanted me to do with my life. I now serve the elderly as an In-Home Caregiver. I love what I do and am very blessed through it.
So my plans for the next 365 days is whatever the Lord leads me to do. I do have a few plans, but they are tentative...well sort of.  I'm flying to Michigan with my sister in 7 days to spend a week with some friends up there! We are so excited! And a friend of ours is getting married in Wisconsin in January so we are hoping to make it out there for that too! But that is pretty much it. I currently have a job as a 24-hour Live-In Caregiver. I don't know how long I will be here, but I have really grown to love this area and even after my job is done with this client I am with I certainly hope I might be able to stay in the area, if at all possible, for a little while at least.
Oh! By the way, my client just turned 95 years young yesterday! What a blessing she is to all those around her!
